Hello adventurers, welcome back to Block of the Week! I'm your host, VeejVG, and this week, we're going to take a look at this Japanese paper block, the Shoji Block.
Obtaining
So first of all, how do you get it? The shoji block can be crafted using paper and sticks, as you can see here:
Related Blocks
While these blocks are not directly related to shoji blocks, they look great together and have the same Japanese theme. The blocks I'm talking about, of course, are paper lanterns.
Paper lanterns come in all wood types (including crimson, fungal, and mangrove that are not in the GIF above). At the moment, these lanterns do not emit light but hopefully soon they will light the night away! Here is the crafting recipe which applies to all wood types, except for warped and crimson planks:
Community Builds
Let's look at some community builds made out of shoji and paper lantern blocks!
First off, we have this wonderful Japanese dojo made by Bissal/AnonymousPug. In regular Minecraft, this build would be almost impossible with this palette, but thanks to OR's shoji block, it looks marvelous. Fantastic work!
Secondly, we have this incredible build by Tjlock. This build has an added sense of depth through the use of the Shoji block which couldn't have been done easily in regular Minecraft. Incredible work Tjlock!
Finally, these houses were built by TaelF, this small build effectively uses the shoji block to add detail, amazingly well put together, well done Tael!
Wowie what a great article! Thanks for reading it.
